Product Designer, Photographer,
Foodie & Dog Lover!

Before participating in this program, I had a six-year background in architectural design. I have also worked as a graphic designer, photographer, marketing operations, etc. Before the pandemic, I especially liked to travel around, looking for good food. Now I am the dad of a five-year-old corgi! That is why I also made various design proposals for dogs during my study at Sheridan.

Rover interface design

Rover App Redesign

<The Problem>
Rover is an online platform that connects dog and cat parents with loving pet sitters and dog walkers in neighbourhoods across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe. However, when searching for dog walkers in-app, the search result really makes users confused. Users can not sort the result by some categories that they care about like distancing and ratings. This makes users spend more time scrolling down the sitter list to view more dog walkers and try to find someone who is close to their place and has a good rating. In short, my goal is to identify the pain points of the dog walker searching experience within the Rover app and explore possible solutions to those problems.

<My Role>
User Research, UX & UI Designer, Prototyping & Testing

<What I Did>
Overall, this was a 6-week project. I spent the first two weeks doing research, analyzing current app and defining people problems; the following two weeks creating designs and Lo-Fi prototype, testing design solutions; and the last two weeks gathering feedback, refining and creating Hi-Fi prototype, conducting the second round of user testing. More specifically, I mainly redesigned the search result screen by adding key sorted categories and added a new "save" function to streamline the dog walker searching experience.

Indus Space  interface design

Indus Space Gamified Learning App Design

<The Problem>
Collaborated with the industry partner - Indus Space, our team designed a space-themed gamified learning app to motivate kids aged from 6 to 11 (Grade 1 - Grade 5) to get engaged in space learning.

<My Role>
User Research, UX & UI Designer, Prototyping & Testing, Team Facilitator

<What I Did>
Our team spent a lot of time understanding the kids' needs and pain points through interviews with parents and educators at the early stage. After that, we created an intuitive and straightforward sign-up flow for parents to help their kids set up the account. Also, we designed interesting avatar creation and gaming experiences for kids. We conducted three rounds of user testing to iterate the product and verify that users are satisfied with the app. I am very happy that in the last user test, all users are very satisfied with our app. In short, I am very proud of what we have achieved in the very limited time frame. I had fun and learned a lot from this project.
